In the midst of a tidal wave of conservatism across the country, a blue state with occasional hints of purple, turned red on Tuesday. Illinois elected Mark Kirk to the Senate over Obama pal and former state treasurer, Alexi Giannoulias. Although Kirk is a moderate Republican, he is a fiscal conservative and has promised to vote against cap and tax legislation in the Senate, in spite of his support of it as a Congressman. As this seat was formerly occupied by now President Obama, Kirk is now the junior Senator from Illinois replacing Blagojevich appointed Roland Burris. Because Kirk is already seated, he can help block liberal legislation that the Senate tries to pass during the lame duck session.
A red hue replaces the blue shade of Illinois House members as four Illinois House seats flipped to the Republicans. Three of these were expected. One of these victories came from rising star, Adam Kinzinger, who handily defeated incumbent Debbie Halvorson. Kinzinger gave a rousing, yet humble victory speech last night:
Up and coming Republican Bobby Schilling defeated Phil "I don't care about the Constitution" Hare to win the 17th Congressional seat by ten points. Randy Hultgren defeated Bill Foster in the 14th District. In a bit of a surprise, Joe Walsh has defeated incumbent Democrat, Melissa Bean, although the race has not officially been called. Walsh leads Bean by less than 1,000 votes. If this result holds, this would mean that Illinois is represented by 11 Republicans compared to 8 Democrats.
Incumbent Republicans won fairly handily in the 6th, 10th, 13th,15th,16th,18th, and 19th Districts.
Although the ran strong campaigns and were deeply principled, Joel Pollak and Issac Hayes, lost their races in two deep blue districts.

Adam Kinzinger Accepts Victory!
One of Governor Palin's combat veteran endorsees, Congressman-elect Adam Kinzinger spoke humbly in his acceptance of victory over incumbent Debbie Halvorson, last night. Kinzinger promised to truly represent the people of central and north central Illinois, ensure that government lives with its means, and embrace the private sector ability to create jobs. He also spoke of his desire to work to repeal the health care reform bill, kill cap and trade legislation, and restore true representation to the 11th Congressional District of Illinois.

Hultgren Wins Illinois 14!
Republican Congressional candidate for Illinois' 14th district, Randy Hultgren, defeated incumbent, Bill Foster, by a 6 point margin in Tuesday's election. This victory, in addition to wins over Democratic incumbents in the 14th and 17th Districts and a potential upset in the 8th district, means that Illinois will now be represented by more Republicans than Democrats. The Chicago Sun Times reports about Hultgren's victory rally:

He made his way to the podium at Riverside Receptions in Geneva around 10 p.m., to deafening cheers from the standing-room-only crowd, there to celebrate several Republican wins. As he shook hands and greeted people, the crowd chanted, first “Randy! Randy!” and then “Congressman! Congressman!”
“That’s going to take a while to sink in, I think,” Hultgren said, as applause filled the room.
“I see this as the start of an incredible journey,” he said. “We’re going to continue to do everything we can to make you proud, to represent you the best we can. It’s a big job, but we can do it.”
Hultgren, 44, of Wheaton, has served in the Illinois Senate since 2007. Before that, he spent eight years in the Illinois House. He campaigned for Congress on a platform of smaller government and lower taxes, key issues throughout his political career.

Kinzinger Crushes Halvorson!
Illinois is poised to go red tonight with Republicans defeating incumbents in at least 3 Democratic districts! Captain Adam Kinzinger defeated incumbent, Debbie Halvorson by a resounding 15 points in the race for Illinois' 11th Congressional seat. On his Facebook page, Kinzinger writes, " Thanks to everyone for all of the hours you've dedicated over the last year to make this happen tonight. I won't let you down." Halvorson voted for the stimulus, cap and tax, and Obamacare, which Kinzinger would like to repeal.
Congrats to Congressman Kinzinger!

Governor Palin Takes on Politico's Anonymous Sources
As Doug linked in a previous post , Governor Palin responded to yesterday's Politico piece in an email to the Daily Caller. This is the second Politico piece in recent weeks laden with quotes from anonymous GOP sources. The first piece was quickly refudiated by Glenn Beck and Mark Levin . The most recent piece was smack down by Greta van Susteren last night when she questioned the anonymous sources who want to be in charge of our national security do not even have the guts to attach their names to their quotes bashing Governor Palin. In the Daily Caller piece, Governor Palin, with her signature use of truthful sarcasm calls out these anonymous sources:
The greater issue is that of the liberal media and the Establishment GOP. The American media is growing increasingly distrustful of a media that do not put names to their sources. The American people are also becoming more distrustful of the political machine that sees the greater goal being increased party power at any cost rather than a stronger stance on party principles. That is why elections have consequences. Many Establishment Republicans did not win their primaries, and Movement Republicans are poised to have a huge impact on the Midterm elections tomorrow. That's why Americans go to the polls--for the airing of grievances. A Festivus Pole (Poll), anyone?

Palin also mocked Politico’s use of anonymous sources, saying, “I suppose I could play their immature, unprofessional, waste-of-time game, too, by claiming these reporters and politicos are homophobe, child molesting, tax evading, anti-dentite, puppy-kicking, chain smoking porn producers…really, they are… I’ve seen it myself…but I’ll only give you the information off-the-record, on deep, deep background; attribute these ‘facts’ to an ‘anonymous source’ and I’ll give you more.In addition to referencing the paleness of KTVA reporters who were plotting an scurrilous story line for a piece on Joe Miller and his supporters, Governor Palin also makes a clever reference to Seinfeld with her "anti-dentite" reference, further emphasizing the ridiculousness of anonymous sources in politics:

Sharron Angle Thanks Joy Behar for the Campaign Boost!
Whether it is comparing California liberals to "permanent residents of a unicorn ranch in fantasyland" or using singing puppets to mock the Obama administration's inability to read a short illegal immigration bill, conservative women, like Governor Palin and Governor Brewer, certainly know how to use humor effectively. Sharron Angle has shown she has a knack for this as well. Earlier this week, "Joyless" Behar said Angle is "a b**** who is going to hell". As far as I know, Angle has no intentions of going on the View, so Behar's wishes for Angle will be unfulfilled. In fact, this outburst actually boosted Angle's campaign funds. Angle's campaign responded wittily to this tirade by Behar:
Sharron Angle shared a picture of the flowers via Twitter:

Governor Palin recently spoke at a Tea Party Express rally in Reno, Nevada, showing support for Angle's campaign. Angle currently has a four point lead over Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid.
Update: Michelle Malkin reports that Behar doubled down on her insult and claimed that illegal immigrants probably picked the flowers. Joy, certainly is a unfitting name for her, huh?

No one can accuse Team Angle of not having a healthy sense of humor.
In response to Joy Behar’s vicious remarks on The View, the Angle campaign sent a lovely flower arrangement with a note enclosed.
“Joy, Raised $150,000 online yesterday. Thanks for your help. Sincerely, Sharron Angle”
